Gaby is Senior Lecturer in Cellular Metabolism at the University of Birmingham and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has an interest in energy homeostasis, particularly in fuel sensing mechanisms that may play a role in diabetes and obesity. Gaby obtained her BSc in Biochemistry and PhD from the University of Bristol, and then did post-doctoral research at the University of Bristol and Imperial College London (with a brief sabbatical in Université de Paris Descartes as a research fellow), before being appointed lecturer at Imperial College London. In her spare time, she likes to play volleyball, hill walk, and rock climb.
